Modernization of the PA-1343 press complex with a force of 20 MN
Client:
Division "Severstal Russian Steel." PJSC "Severstal"
Year of Implementation:
2017-2018
In 2017, at the request of PJSC "Severstal," specialists from Ural Engineering Center (UrIC) began the modernization of the PA-1343 press. The press had been in operation for over 30 years. The equipment had become outdated and was no longer meeting the required accuracy for forging, leading to increased metal consumption and longer machining times for forgings.
The press forges ingots weighing from 4 to 13 tons, producing smooth and stepped parts, round and rectangular sections ranging from 500 to 10,000 mm in length and a cross-sectional size of 150 to 780 mm, disk-type parts (bushings) with or without holes from 125 to 500 mm in height and a diameter of 450 to 1,400 mm, and rolled rings from 125 to 500 mm in height and a diameter of 650 to 1,900 mm.
The main drive of the press operates on water or water emulsion.
Components of the Modernized Press System:
- Main shut-off valve of the press hydraulic system;
- Automatic press valve;
- Electro-hydraulic switch for controlling the automatic valve;
- Valve hydraulic distributors for the movable traverse and table;
- Hydraulic cylinders for driving the movable traverse and table;
- Filling system;
- Pump-accumulator unit for the control system;
- Hydraulic control panels for shut-off and control elements of the automatic valve and valve distributors for the movable traverse and table;
- Power cabinet for the pump-accumulator control unit;
- Local control panel for the pump-accumulator unit;
- Automation cabinet;
- Main control panel for the press.
Results of Modernization:
- Increased reliability and durability
- Expanded press control capabilities
- Improved working conditions for the press operator and maintenance staff
- Increased press productivity
- Improved product quality (forging tolerances reduced from 10 to ±3..5 mm)
- Reduced press downtime related to repairs
