Significant Increase in Line Productivity
Customer:
OJSC "NTMK", Nizhny Tagil
Year of Implementation:
2012
In 2004, a new wheel rolling and press line, developed by SMS EUMUCO (Germany), was commissioned in the wheel and tire shop (KBC) of OJSC "EVRAZ NTMK".
During the initial stages of operation, several shortcomings were identified. Some of these issues were resolved through the joint efforts of the enterprise's specialists and the equipment manufacturer. However, even after the warranty period and several additional years of operation, the line’s planned production capacity was not achieved.
In 2012, Ural Engineering Center carried out modernization works to increase the productivity of the line.
The following key tasks were completed to achieve this goal:
- Press No. 2 of the wheel rolling and press line was equipped with centering devices;
- The cooling and lubrication manipulators for the die tooling of presses No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 were fitted with hydraulic drives;
- The cooling system for the die tooling of presses No. 1 and No. 2 was improved.
As a result of the modernization, the work cycle time of press No. 2 was reduced from 46...48 seconds to 38 seconds, and the line's productivity increased from 65...70 to 90 wheels per hour.
